It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our colleague, friend and outstanding physician, Dr. Vernon Theis. Dr. Theis was passionate about many things, including his 40-year career as an OB/GYN, hiking winding trails in Colorado, enjoying live music, photography and shocking everyone around him with headstands in the most unexpected of places. More simply put, he was passionate about life itself.
Dr. Theis thrived in all aspects of his life, and he loved his role as a physician. His favorite place was in the delivery room bringing new life and hope into this world. He loved sharing these moments with his patients and supporting them through the more challenging of times, especially when trusted to provide care for one family across multiple generations. He loved seeing his patients in the office and pouring into their health and wellness, as well as getting to know them as individuals. He felt most at peace wearing scrubs, ready to jump into action wherever he was needed. When not at the office or hospital, Dr. Theis was often found tinkering with machines and household repairs, satisfied only once he’d solved the puzzle and revived its functionality. There were few things he couldn’t fix.
We will continue to honor Dr. Theis and his life by sharing our memories of him. There is not a day that goes by where we don’t miss our friend.
