Common Causes of Infertility
Numerous factors can cause infertility, and we’ve listed some of the more common ones below. Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a condition in which the endometrial tissue grows inside the pelvic cavity, causing symptoms including:
- Painful periods
- Pain during intercourse
- Painful bowel movements
- Irregular bleeding
- Possible infertility
Endometriosis can be treated with medication or outpatient
laparoscopic surgery, depending on the individual.
Blocked Tubes
Blocked tubes do not present any symptoms, but can be caused by a history of STIs or Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, or by scar tissue from previous infections or surgeries. Blocked tubes may be treated with outpatient laparoscopic surgery.
Lack of Ovulation
Lack of Ovulation is another possible cause of infertility. The symptoms include infrequency or lack of periods, and the condition can be treated with medication.
Low Sperm Count
Low sperm count can be caused by numerous medical conditions as well as various biologic and environmental factors. We work in conjunction with a urologist to evaluate and treat low sperm count.
